Romance month continues with Mary E. Thompson! Her book Fat and Fine is released today! Congrats Mary on the new release!! Check below for all the books in the series. The first book Chubby and Charming is now free! I know what I’m reading this week!!
Living near one of the most romantic places on earth, I’d have to say I’d take advantage of that for the ultimate romantic Valentine’s date. Niagara Falls is about 45 minutes from where we live and going up there for a night would top my list. It’s cold in February, but my honey could help keep me warm, walking hand in hand around the Falls, stealing a few kisses too.
We’d stay in a hotel that overlooked the Falls, somewhere we could escape to when we got too cold outside. Being together would be all the gifts we need, although I wouldn’t turn down something spectacular!
Dinner would be brought up to us, a juicy steak and some delicious veggies would fill me up, maybe some seafood for my hubby. We’d definitely have some local wine with our dinner, too. We’d talk, because we talk about everything, and focus on all the good things in our lives.
After dinner we’d soak in an oversized jetted tub right there in our room. Being able to view the cold, powerful Falls from the warmth of our hotel room would set the mood. We might have some cuddle time and watch a movie, but we’d end the night with some adult time, of course, and fall asleep in each other’s arms.
Chubby & Charming (now free everywhere)
Blurb: Mandy is happy with her life. She’s got it all – awesome friends, a good job, and her own place. She’s proud of what she’s accomplished and she doesn’t need a man in her life. Until Xander turns her world upside down.
Once she meets Xander, Mandy knows there’s no turning back. As an overweight woman, Mandy was overlooked more times than she could count. But when the hottest guy she’s ever seen professes he’s interested, Mandy thinks he’s playing a cruel joke, or at least trying to spare her feelings.
Until he comes back. Again and again. And continues to tell her he wants only her.
Can Mandy put aside her insecurities and trust Xander? Or will he turn out to be the jerk she feared?
Excerpt: Halfway through the movie the pizza arrived. Xander paid for all of it, waving off offers to give him money. “If you’re trying to buy our approval with pizza, it just might work,” Addi teased him.
He laughed and said, “I was hoping to gain your approval with my charm and wit but as long as I have your approval I guess it doesn’t really matter how I got it.”
Everyone laughed as we filled our plates with pizza and headed back to the living room. Xander snagged my arm before we left the kitchen and pulled me into a rough kiss, his tongue forcing into my mouth. He probed me, gripping my ass and grinding his hips to mine while I stood there, pizza and wine in my hands.
He pulled back from me as quickly as he’d grabbed me and said, “I’ve been dying to kiss you. It’s hard to keep my hands to myself when you’re this close. Just a whiff of your scent is intoxicating.”
Stunned and turned on beyond belief I stood there staring at him, “You can’t just kiss me like that and walk off. Shit, I didn’t even get a chance to touch you.”
He picked up his pizza and bottle of beer and winked at me as he left the kitchen to finish watching the movie with my friends. I stared after him, willing the throbbing between my thighs to stop, but I knew only one thing could make that happen. And it seemed I was out of luck there.
Lush & Lovely
Blurb: Claire doesn’t trust men. Ever since her high school boyfriend forced himself on her, she’s struggled to let a man close. To make sure no man would ever put her in that position again she gained weight. She was happier not living in fear.
A relationship is out of the question, and sex? Well, she’d gotten used to not having any. She was pretty sure she didn’t need it to survive, although it had been so long so wasn’t really sure.
Somehow, though, Aidan snuck through her defenses. He became her friend first, getting to know her and earning her trust. Then he started asking her out.
She said no, of course, but she wanted to say yes.
But, really, a guy that looked like Aidan wasn’t really serious about going out with her. They were friends. He liked her, yes, but asking her out was simply a confidence booster. She knew he didn’t mean anything by it.
Until Aidan makes it clear he’s not joking. He’s not just saying he wants to go out with her. He’s really, honestly interested.
The only thing to figure out is if Claire’s gotten to know him well enough that she’ll trust him. And if Aidan is the man she hopes he is, or the man she fears in the darkness.
Excerpt: When Aidan pulled out the second cupcake he took the first bite. He held it to me without a word and I took a bite. He watched my lips as I chewed and my eyes drifted closed, enjoying the glorious flavors and the feel of the sexy man pressed against my body. I knew he was enjoying himself too, that or he had a gun in his pocket.
Aidan took another bite then held up the last of the cupcake to me. He cocked his eyebrow at me, daring me to take it. I knew what it meant. I knew what he wanted. I knew what I wanted.
I wanted to lick his fingers clean. And not just because they were covered in icing.
Shapely & Stunning
Blurb: Love isn’t in the realm of possibility for Lexi Mack. After her parents manipulated her love to get their way before and after their divorce, she knew love wasn’t something she ever wanted. It would just leave her hurt, and she’d had enough pain to last a lifetime.
Sex was another story though. Lexi could handle that. She needed it, and Mike Peterman was the perfect man to help her get that release.
Until Mike wants to change things. When he becomes her boss, she’s ready to end their friends-with-benefits relationship, but he wants to take things to a completely different level.
Can Lexi get over her opposition to love, and dating the boss, and let Mike in? Or is she destined to be alone forever?
Excerpt: Damn. I hated that I knew that about him. I wanted him to be a stranger, someone I couldn’t look at and remember the feel of his muscles beneath my fingertips, or the scent of his body in my nose, or the taste of his skin on my tongue. I wanted him to be foreign to me. Someone I wouldn’t miss. Someone I could sit back and watch start up a new relationship with someone new and now feel like I was missing out.
But none of that was possible. Because I knew Mike. I knew his looks, his ticks, his body. I knew more about him than I’d admitted to myself before. I knew Mike wouldn’t have handed me a job, or taken one away, because of our relationship.
And I knew it was too late for me to take back all the things I’d said to him. Because no matter what I might have been thinking, Mike was watching Yvonne walk away, his eyes glued to her ass, with a hunger in them that brought the pain back to my chest.
He was gone. No longer mine. A man who had moved on from me like all the others had done. A man who listened to what I’d told him to do.
And for the first time, I hated that I’d gotten exactly what I wanted.
Bulky & Beauteous
Blurb: Addison James is the woman who is always there for everyone. Constantly offering a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, or two hands to hold back your hair when you vomit, Addi is always there. She’s the one person you never have to question if she’ll be around, because she always is.
But what happens when the one person everyone else turns to needs someone to lean on? When Addi’s world is flipped, spun, and kicked off its axis?
Addison James becomes someone else, that’s what. Addi gets her good deeds and predictable personality thrown in her face after yet another rescue, and she’s sick of it. Deciding to take a play out of her irresponsible sister’s playbook, Addi puts herself first for once.
And for the first time, she wonders if casual sex is really the way to go.
Joey is just a ski bum with no future. He plays for a living. And he gets Addi’s motor running in a way it’s never been before. Who better to jump start her conversion to wild and free Addi than the ski instructor who melts the snow as fast as the resort can make it?
When disaster strikes, and Addi is called into question, who will come out on top… dependable, responsible Addi or wild and carefree Addi?
Excerpt: And he wanted to change things.
“I like you, too, but I’m having fun. This doesn’t have to turn into something more than it is. I’m a big girl. I don’t need you to take me out and treat me like I’m special just so we can have sex. Dinner is overrated. So is sex in a bed. But this,” I gestured to the tree we’d just screwed against, “this is invigorating. I don’t want a dinner. I want crazy sex against a tree.”
Joey laughed, but there was something in his eyes. Something that looked dangerously close to hurt. He wanted more. And I immediately felt like an ass for not being willing to give him more.
But how could I?
Fat & Fine (out Feb 23)
Blurb: After her ex insults her and breaks up with her, Sam is determined to show him exactly what he missed out on. Sam’s hurt, but Sam’s no push over. She’s equally mad, too. And determined to make him eat his words.
Questioning if any man will ever look at her like she’s beautiful, Sam joins a local gym. She’s led around by Brady, the gym’s owner, and is more than a little intimidated by him. His intensity scares her, but something about him intrigues her more than she cares to admit.
When Brady defends Sam and tells her she’s beautiful, she struggles to accept his words.
As Sam works to figure out who she is, and what she really wants to do with her career and life, Brady’s strong and silent presence builds her confidence. Until Brady dismisses her, making her think he’s just as bad as her ex. And that she’ll never find someone who truly cares for her.
Excerpt: His lips were soft but urgent, asking me for permission I was desperate to give. I slid my tongue out to meet his, a conversation we could only have without words. I ached for him, but I knew he wasn’t ready. He’d only ever touched my ass and my waist, never anything else. And after kisses that left me feeling like I’d been hit by a meteor, I wanted more.
I didn’t want to rush him, but the feel of him hard against my stomach made my body do things I had no control over. As my back arched to rub myself against him, my hands coaxed him closer. A moan slipped past my lips and I felt Brady’s control drift.
One hand moved from my ass up my side, over my hip, and continued north. When he got to the edge of my breast, still encased in my heavy-duty sports bra, he paused. With his control firmly back in place I let out a sigh of disappointment. I didn’t want to rush him, but I also didn’t want to check into a convent any time soon.
Brady pulled back from our kiss, leaving me breathless and swirling with frustration. He looked down at me, his eyes blazing with the fire I felt shooting throughout my body. “Can I touch you, Sam?” he asked with a gentleness I didn’t expect.
“Dear, God, please,” I begged, letting him know how badly I wanted him.
Mary E. Thompson grew up loving to read, like a good little girl. Many nights she would fall asleep with the flashlight still turned on as she hid under the covers trying to finish the last few pages of a book. As an adult, the light from her ereader means she doesn’t need a flashlight, but she still stays up way too late to finish a book.
When Mary’s not reading she’s playing with her two kids or living out her own romance novel with her hubby. She has a weakness for chocolate, especially when it’s paired with peanut butter, and has been known to have a bad day just because there’s no chocolate in the house.
Mary grew up in Buffalo, New York and swears she’s the only local to never ski or snowboard. Soccer was always her sport, with a couple adventures white water rafting and skydiving to keep things interesting. Mary moved to South Carolina for college but missed Buffalo every day. Yeah she thinks she’s crazy, too. She somehow convinced her South Carolina born and bred hubby to return to Buffalo to raise the kids and live out their lives. He’s still not sure what he was thinking.
